Abia Warriors Target Top-Two Finish as Obuh Eyes CAF Champions League Spot

Abia Warriors FC Chairman and Head Coach, John Obuh, has reiterated the club’s firm ambition to finish among the top two at the end of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, as the race for continental qualification intensifies.

Obuh, a former coach of Nigeria’s U-17 Golden Eaglets and U-20 Flying Eagles, revealed that the Umuahia-based side remains fully focused on achieving its objective, bolstered by the addition of four new signings during the mid-season transfer window.

According to the experienced tactician, the league is entering a decisive phase, but Abia Warriors are well aware that there is still plenty to play for.

“Yes, the league is now at its business end, with 14 matches still to be played,” Obuh said.

“That means there are still about 42 points to play for. It’s still a long road, and we must remain focused and determined to surpass last season’s performance by ensuring we finish among the top two on the final league table.”

Obuh emphasized that the club’s ambitions extend beyond domestic success, with continental football firmly in sight.

“Our target is to play in the CAF Champions League next season, and that means we must end the campaign in a top-two position,” he added.

The chairman-coach expressed confidence that the squad reinforcements will add depth and competitiveness to the team as the season progresses, while also improving consistency in results during the run-in.

With renewed focus, strengthened personnel, and a clear objective, Abia Warriors will look to maintain momentum and push strongly for a historic finish as the NPFL season approaches its climax.
