Ayodeji Bamidele Stars as Power Dynamos Stun Rivers United in CAF Champions League

The Zambian champions produced a disciplined and resilient display at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to claim all three points, dealing a blow to Rivers United’s qualification hopes.

Central to that effort was Bamidele, who marshalled the backline superbly, making crucial interceptions, clearances and well-timed tackles to keep the hosts at bay.

After a cagey first half with few clear-cut chances, the decisive moment arrived five minutes into the second half.

Kondwani Chiboni broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, firing home from a tight angle after a well-weighted assist from Prince Mumba.

The goal stunned the home crowd and shifted the momentum firmly in favour of Power Dynamos.

Rivers United pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but they were repeatedly frustrated by Power Dynamos’ compact defensive shape and Bamidele’s commanding presence at the heart of defence.

Despite late pressure and several attacking substitutions, the Nigerian champions could not find a way past the visitors.

The result sees Power Dynamos strengthen their position in the group, while Rivers United are left with work to do in the remaining fixtures.

For Bamidele and his teammates, it was a statement performance on the continental stage, underlining their ability to compete and win away from home in Africa’s elite club competition.
