The news was first reported in French media, noting that Chelsea made a formal approach this January, only for PSG to rebuff the bid as they aim to keep Echegini at the club for the remainder of the season and beyond.
Echegini, 23, joined PSG in July 2024 on a three-year contract after impressive spells in Italy and has since become an important creative force in midfield for the Parisian side.
The Nigerian midfielder has also made a significant impact internationally, notably scoring the winning goal for the Super Falcons in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, helping Nigeria secure a record-extending 10th title.
With the English winter transfer window closing on 3 February, PSG’s decision to keep Echegini signals their clear intent to protect squad strength in one of Europe’s most competitive women’s leagues, as they pursue domestic and continental honours this season.
