Adeshina’s winning jump equalled the Nigerian national record, a mark she has now cleared for the third time in her career, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s leading high jumpers. It was also the second time she has equalled the national record since setting it.

The Nigerian athlete faced stiff competition from Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, who cleared 1.94m to finish second, but Adeshina held her nerve to secure victory with authority.

Beyond the record-equalling jump, Adeshina impressed observers with strong and confident attempts at 2.00m, suggesting she is edging closer to breaking the long-awaited two-metre barrier.

The performance underlines Adeshina’s growing consistency at elite level and strengthens her profile as a major medal contender for Nigeria at upcoming continental and global championships.
