In a letter dated January 30, 2026, and signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league management informed the club that the decision followed recent broadcast and television rights agreements, which require match venues to meet enhanced technical and infrastructural standards.
According to the NPFL, the Bako Kantagora Stadium no longer meets the requirements necessary to stage league matches under the new broadcast framework.
As a result, Niger Tornadoes have been directed to select an alternative home venue between the Rasheed Yekini Main Bowl, Ilorin, and the Jos Zaria Road Stadium.
The club has been given until the close of business on Monday, February 2, 2026, to communicate its preferred choice to the NPFL Secretariat.
The league warned that failure to respond within the stipulated deadline would compel the NPFL to allocate a venue on behalf of the club.
The development adds to a growing list of venue adjustments across the league as the NPFL intensifies efforts to improve stadium standards in line with its broadcast commitments and overall league branding.
Niger Tornadoes are expected to confirm their temporary home ground ahead of their next scheduled NPFL fixture.
