Sports247 gathered that Mr Sunday Ndidi died after being hit by a car in Umunede area of Agbor in Delta State, thereby sending Nigeria’s football community into mourning.
While responding to the sad news, NFF general-secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi lamented that the sad development comes so soon after Nigeria’s celebrations of the Super Eagles’ third place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Sanusi recalled the sterling role played by Ndidi as captain of the bronze-winning squad and prayed that God will give the Besiktas of Turkey midfielder enough strength to overcome the disaster.
The NFF’s scribe lamented, “This is very sad. We are really shocked at the moment and cannot say much. We earnestly pray for the repose of the soul of Mr. Sunday Ndidi.
“(I) pray that the Almighty God will comfort our team captain, his siblings, relations and indeed all those he has left behind.”

“What about things we talked about, so we no go talk again Na only memories? Even when I score my first national team goal. I do that Papilo dance for you, but you just go like that EERAQ.”
Ndidi’s club also posted a condolence message on their X account, while also praying for God’s guidance to comfort the midfielder and his family.
