Following another goal by Dorgu in United’s 3-2 shock win away to Arsenal on Sunday, the Denmark international gained more words of praise from Carrick, who also noted the lad’s versatile quality.
The Red Devils’ gaffer spent some minutes gushing over Dorgu, who grew up in Husum, a neighbourhood in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he started playing football at a local club, Husum Boldklub, alongside his brothers, Ifenna and Gabriel.
Carrick pointed out that Dorgu, who began his professional career at Lecce of Italy in 2023 before joining United in 2025, can play as a full-back, wing-back or winger, while also capable of making great impacts up and down the left flank.
Carrick said: “His work rate and the way he plays the position, his general play is something we’re really pleased about.
“I wouldn’t want to pin him down, because I think he can do both. Certainly attacking-wise, and that threat, he was pretty impressive last week.”
