The closely contested match saw Angola edge the first half 14–11, capitalising on Nigeria’s missed chances and defensive lapses.

Despite a spirited fightback after the break, the West Africans could only manage a 13–13 second-half scoreline, which was not enough to overturn the deficit.

Nigeria showed resilience and intensity throughout the contest, but Angola’s experience and composure in key moments proved decisive, as they managed the game effectively in the closing stages to seal their place in the semi-finals.

With the victory, Angola advanced into the Semi Final where they will face Egypt for chance at the 2027 Would Handball Championship while Nigeria dropped into the classification matches for places 5–8, bringing an abrupt end to their hopes of a semi-final appearance,
