Sports247 gathered that as soon as the report, tagged ‘breaking news’ emerged via a post on a popular social media platform, various sarcastic reactions and insinuations started trailing it.

The report indicated that the NSC is already in the process of upgrading the stadium, which hosted the 2003 African Games and 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup final, as well as used to host Super Eagles’ home matches (including high profile friendlies versus Brazil and Argentina).

The report indicates further that the NSC has already set in motion a large-scale plan that will go beyond merely a face-lift or renovation for the once glamorous stadium, all of which will cost $14m (about N24 billion).

However, a barage of critical comments and various allegations are now trailing the report, which was placed in the public purview through a short post on X by GNB Official @GHNaijaBallers, without quoting any official source.

While feelers indicate that the renovation was set in motion last year February, with an effort towards giving the arena a complete overhaul, not just upgrades, social media users are critical about ‘fishy’ intentions by government officials, who might allegedly have ulterior motives in the project.

Dr_daddy_J inquired, “How much is a brand new stadium???”

robystyles4u777 alleged, “ANOTHER MONEY GUZZLING SCHEME !! THIS IS THEIR CASH …”

BimboBimbo007 added, “Watch how it’s gonna be mediocre cos I know at least 10 mil of that money is…”
