Sports247 gathered that great expectations heralded Payne’s arrival in Orlando, where she is one of three new players to join the squad – alongside ace winger, Seven Castain and top goalkeeper, Cara Martin.
Payne, who previously played for Paris Saint Germain of France, arrives after two campaigns with Portland Thorns FC, where she had 19 regular games in 2024, before suffering a season-ending injury.
Orlando Pride’s coach, Seb Hines admitted he will be expecting much from Payne and the other new arrivals, as his side get set to open the 2026 season at home on March 15 versus Seattle Reign FC.
“As we look to add depth and quality players to our roster ahead of the 2026 season, we are so happy to bring Seven, Cara and Nicole on board with us.
“They all provide different strengths, while still maintaining the versatility that we look for in players that we want to bring in.
“We look forward to integrating them with the squad; while also helping them develop both on and off the field,” said Hines.
Sports247 adds that Nicole Payne, who clocked 25 this past Sunday, is a former Super Falcons star, born in Birmingham, Alabama, USA to Nigerian parents, as well as a younger sister of fellow footballers, Toni Payne and Stephen Payne.
