Onyemachi is expected to make Olympiakos of Greece’s starting line-up for Tuesday’s home fixture, after starring for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and is back in Greece with a bronze medal.

Onyemachi would have loved to share some of his AFCON 2025 experiences with Tella, but the former Super Eagles’ invitee will not be there for the visiting team from Germany due to a knock he got at the weekend.

Leverkusen further disclosed that they will be without Tella and their goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, for some weeks, ‌after they both sustained injuries in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to TSG Hoffenheim.

The Netherlands keeper suffered a knee ligament tear while Tella, who went on as a substitute in the game, copped a foot injury, thereby knocking them out of Tuesday’s UCL game.

Leverkusen are sixth in the German Bundesliga standings, but Tella will not be available for the next handful of games needed in lifting his team up the log.

The German club posted on their X handle @bayer04_en: “🤕Mark Flekken and Nathan Tella will be out for the time being after both were taken off with injures. Keep your heads up, lads. 🙏🖤❤️.”
