Shooting Stars maintained their intensity throughout the contest, pressing Enyimba and limiting the visitors’ attacking threats. Their persistence paid off again in the 80th minute when Sodiq Ibrahim doubled the lead with a well-taken finish, putting daylight between both sides.
With the game firmly in their grasp, the hosts made a double substitution in the 87th minute as Sodiq Ibrahim and Ayobami Junior were withdrawn for Emmanuel Ndubueze and Qamar Adegoke. The changes had an immediate impact, as Qamar Adegoke sealed the victory in the 90th minute, slotting home to make it 3–0 and cap a comprehensive team performance.
The result marked a significant turnaround for Shooting Stars, who had suffered a 3–0 defeat to Enyimba in Aba at the end of the first stanza. This commanding win in Ibadan not only restored parity between the two sides over the two legs but also boosted Shooting Stars’ confidence as they looked ahead to the remainder of the season.
For Enyimba, it was a difficult afternoon, as they struggled to cope with Shooting Stars’ intensity and organization. The Aba giants will now regroup and seek a swift response in their upcoming fixtures, while Shooting Stars will look to build on this momentum going forward.
