Senegal booked their place in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025, continuing their impressive run at the tournament as the Lions of Teranga advanced to the final four.

The decisive moment came in the 27th minute, when Iliman Ndiaye reacted quickest to a loose ball in the area, calmly finishing with his right foot to give Senegal the lead. The goal proved enough to separate the sides in a tightly contested encounter.

Mali were forced to navigate the remainder of the match under pressure after being reduced to ten men in first-half added time.

Midfielder Yves Bissouma was shown a second yellow card in the 45+3rd minute following an earlier booking in the 23rd minute, leaving the Malians to dig deep for the remainder of the contest.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Senegal showed composure, discipline and tactical maturity, defending resolutely to protect their slender lead and secure qualification for the semi-finals.
