A Nigerian-born youngster, James Debayo has revealed how delighted he is in joining Super Eagles’ defender, Semi Ajayi at Hull City of England, Sports247 reports.
Debayo enters The Tigers’ base with high expectations, as the defender believes he can make better progress in his career playing alongside Ajayi and others at Super Eagles’ legend, Austin Okocha’s former club.

While Ajayi is still away with the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the towering centre back will return to meet Debayo as one of his new teammates.
This is sequel to confirmation that Debayo, a 20-year-old centre-back and former England under-18 international, has joined The Tigers on an 18-month deal that will run until next year.
The deal, which comes with an option of a further year in Hull’s favour, is a leap forward for Debayo, who made his senior debut for Leeds United as a late substitute in a 4-3 win against Swansea City in November 2024.
Debayo told Hull’s website: “I feel I can progress here, become a more experienced player and get more games under my belt.
“A couple of months ago, I came in to train with the boys to get a feel for the place. I really liked it and, luckily, I’m here permanently now.”
