Atalanta of Italy winger, Ademola Lookman has admitted that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles expect to face a tougher opponent in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.
Sports247 reports that a 4-0 spanking of Mozambique on Monday took Nigeria into the last-eight stage of the ongoing continental showpiece, and Lookman acknowledged that things are bound to be twice as difficult.

He then assured that all players in the Nigerian squad are determined to excel together, even as he played down his second man of the match award and third goal of the competition.
The former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham and Leicester City of England winger declared, “I’m just thinking about the team and what we are doing together. We scored four goals, but our next opponents will be another strong team.
“We just hope we get another big performance for the team, and I am happy for the support we are getting here in Morocco.
“It’s not easy to put up such a performance and, obviously, the expectation is high on us. For us to keep the momentum and same mentality, we’ll hope for more support in our next game.”
Lookman concluded by recalling the pain of failing to qualify for next year’s World Cup and, though he confessed that it can never be forgotten, the in-form dazzler stressed that all attention for now is only on their upcoming quarter-finals fixture.
“The disappointment of not qualifying for the World Cup is still there, and there’s nothing we can do about that. But, now we have qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFCON.
“So, we focus now on the next big team we’ll play against. That’s the only thing that we are now focusing on,” Lookman stressed.
