Super Eagles’ captain, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has acknowledged that he and his colleagues in the Nigerian national team will come up against a very good Mozambique side in Monday’s round of 16 clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sports247 gathered that Ndidi was looking relaxed ahead of Monday’s encounter in Fes, Morocco, but he admitted that the Eagles cannot afford to underrate The Mambas, who he noted are determined to win the game.

It would be another historic stride for Mozambique, as they won their first ever AFCON game and have reached the round of 16 for the first time in their history, all of which would be accentuated with victory over Nigeria.
Although all odds are staked in favour of Nigeria, who have won four out of five previous encounters between both team and drew only one, Ndidi promised that the Eagles will not look down on the underdogs.
The Besiktas of Turkey midfielder, who previously played for Nath Boys FC of Lagos, RKC Genk of Belgium and Leicester City of England, reasoned that Mozambique will come out with determination and aggressiveness.
“We’ve watched their group-stage games; they really fight. They are a very good team. They are very aggressive, and they play like a team.
“The main focus is on us; how we will approach the game and how we want it. So, we will just focus on the game,” Ndidi submitted.
