The Super Eagles sealed their place in the knockout stage following an impressive group campaign that saw them record victories over Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda, scoring freely while showing depth across the squad. Their reward is a date with Mozambique, who progressed as one of the best third-placed teams.

The Round of 16 clash is scheduled for 5 January at the Stade de Fès, with kickoff set for 8:00pm local time. It will be Nigeria’s first knockout test of the tournament as they chase a fourth AFCON title.

Mozambique, known for their physical approach and quick transitions, will be looking to spring a surprise against the three-time African champions.

However, Nigeria’s form, confidence and squad rotation during the group stage suggest a team growing stronger as the tournament progresses.

Head coach Eric Chelle has repeatedly emphasized focus and discipline, warning that knockout football offers no margin for error.

The players have echoed that message, insisting the group-stage success counts for little if it is not backed up with strong performances in the decisive rounds.

With momentum on their side and belief high within the camp, the Super Eagles will aim to take another step toward continental glory when they step onto the pitch in Fès on Monday night.
