The chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji has cautioned the Super Eagles ahead of their clash with Mozambique in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, saying they should avoid making any mistake in Monday’s match.
While describing the second round as a ‘delicate stage’ of the competition, since the fixtures will now be on knock-out basis, Mogaji added in an exclusive interview with Sports247 in Fes, Morocco that the Eagles must improve on their first three victories.

He started by showering accolades on a Lagos-based travel, tours and hospitality company, Farwill Consult Limited, which he said packaged his trip flawlessly to the North African country and in a commendable manner.
Mogaji stated, “Farwill is a fantastic organisation and I have made up my mind that, anywhere I want to go, I will get in touch with them, because they have a good and perfect arrangement.
“They provide accommodation, they provide transportation and they make things easy. They make us feel as if we are at home. So, I say kudos to Farwill, they are fantastic.”
The sports supremo from Ilorin also revealed that he and other members of the touring group have had a wonderful time in Fes, especially as the Super Eagles have made them happy with their victories.
He added, “The most pleasant thing about my stay here is our winning. When you are winning, you don’t have to complain.
“It’s when you are losing that you see that the food is bad or the room is rough. Fortunately for us, everything here is cool … apart from the weather that is tough for us.
“It is very, very cold … but all other aspects of the atmosphere here are good. The people are very friendly, and they have nice roads.
“I’ve been to three of their states, and those places are lovely. They are far ahead in terms of structures, and they have many fine places.”
Mogaji then turned his attention on the Super Eagles’ performances so far at the tournament and praised the players for stepping up their efforts, but urged them to work even harder now that the knock-out stages are round the corner.
He pointed out, “Our players are good, and they are getting better day-by-day. I think the problem they had before now was that they had not been playing together for so long.
“This time around, they have the opportunity of playing longer in a league format. Assuming it had been on a knock-out basis, it might have been a little bit difficult.
“Our first match was not too good, the second match was better, and the third one allowed us to test a crop of new players.
“Several new players were introduced into the line-up, and they showed that they now understand one another. I pray that, in the round of 16, which is very delicate, there won’t be any mistske.”
The esteemed sports top shot concluded with a closer look at the current Eagles’ squad as a whole and affirmed that they can go all the way to the trophy on January 18th, with God on their side.
“Sincerely, the Eagles have landed, and they are winning. They are playing well, and I believe they are destined to do well in this tournament. By the grace of God, with God’s support, we are going to take this Cup,” Mogaji projected.
