Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has reaffirmed his readiness to contribute to Nigeria’s campaign at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, despite yet to feature after the team’s opening two matches.
With fierce competition for places in Nigeria’s midfield, Onyedika currently finds himself lower in the pecking order.

However, the Club Brugge star insists he remains focused, patient, and fully prepared to seize his opportunity whenever it comes.
Speaking to Sports247, the 23-year-old stressed that his priority is to stay match-ready and support the team from any position.
“I think it’s about being ready and being ready whenever the coach calls upon you,”
Onyedika said. “My job is to be ready. The coach and the guys on the pitch are doing well, so it’s about supporting them.”
When asked about the possibility of earning his first minutes of the tournament in the next match, against Uganda the midfielder was cautious.
“I don’t know. Maybe you can ask the coach,” he replied with a smile.
On the pressure that comes with representing Nigeria on the continental stage, Onyedika maintained that he is not burdening himself with expectations.
“I’m a footballer, there’s no need to put pressure on myself. I just need to do what I normally do — the things that brought me this far. I don’t need to add extra pressure.”
The midfielder also spoke about the unity within the Super Eagles camp, especially with the likelihood of changes and the integration of new players.
“It’s good. I think we have good leaders in the team and they’re helping everyone, including me,” he said. “The new guys are settling in well too, and it makes things easier. It’s like one big family here.”
As Nigeria continue their AFCON 2025 journey, Onyedika’s message is clear: whenever the call comes, he is ready to answer.
