President Bola Tinubu Wishes Anthony Joshua Speedy Recovery, After Boxing Star Survives Fatal Accident In Ogun State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a get well quickly message to former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, who survived a fatal car accident on Monday at Sagamu in Ogun State.

Sports247 reports that President Tinubu’s message came after government officials confirmed that Joshua was hale recovering at a hospital in Sagamu, following the accident that occurred around 11am along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Ogun State government later disclosed that two foreign nationals died in the accident, which reportedly happened when the vehicle Joshua and three other persons were travelling in rammed into a stationery truck.

The driver apparently lost control of the SUV while trying to speed past another vehicle, but an official statement by traffic officers claimed he overtook on the wrong lane, while others suggested the car suffered a burst tyre.

While speculation rages over what could have caused the accident, President Tinubu consoled Joshua over the loss of his colleagues and prayed that God will strengthen the former two-time world champion in his recovery process.

Tinubu’s statement read in part: “This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow on this season. I sympathise with you and your family as you bear the emotional weight of this unfortunate incident.

“As a sportsman, you have always shown courage, discipline, and unwavering love for our country. These are qualities that have made you a source of national pride.

“I pray for strength, wisdom, and grace for you during this painful period. May God grant you a speedy recovery and repose to the souls of the departed.”

Sports247 gathered further late Monday that Tinubu put a call through to Joshua to wish him well.
