Onyeka, who played on loan to Augsburg of Germany last season, was replaced in the 79th minute of Nigeria’a 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday and appeared to be limping as he returned to the Eagles’ bench, but he has now refuted any injury concerns about himself.
He disclosed: “I’m feeling good and I’m alright. It’s just a twisted ankle, but I’ll be fine for the next game. I hope to play the next game because ‘The Tank’ is always ready.”
The amiable battler then spoke about his passion for the Nigerian national team and affirmed that he always wants to give his very best whenever he’s called upon to play, with a view towards doing well in whatever role he is assigned.
“Every time I play, I always want to give my best to the team. I always want to play my own part in every aspect.
“I just try and play my normal game. I don’t mind any formation that the coach puts me into … as long as I get the opportunity to play my part.
“All I want is to play for my country. I just want the chance to contribute to the team’s success and play my game,” said Onyeka, who started his career at Faith Motors FC of Benin City.
