Shooting Stars had a chance to get back into the game in the 51st minute, but goalkeeper Henry Anozie produced a crucial penalty save to deny Gbolagade, preserving Enyimba’s advantage.

The Aba-based side tightened their grip on the match in the closing stages. Edidiong Ezekiel doubled the lead in the 84th minute, before Chidera Michael added a third deep into stoppage time (90+6’) to complete a comprehensive rout.

The victory comes as a strong response after Enyimba’s five-goal thriller defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors on Matchday 18.

Enyimba finish the first stanza in 8th position with 26 points, while Shooting Stars remain 7th with 29 points.
