AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Receive Favourite Odds For Victory Over Tunisia

The Super Eagles have received favourable odds to emerge victorious over Tunisia in Saturday’s second group game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Sports247 gathered.

Although the Tunisians stand top of Group C on goals difference, The Carthage Eagles are rated slightly below the Nigerian squad as likely winners of the upcoming fixture in Fez, Morocco.

The odds, according to popular British newspaper, The Standard, are 6/5 for Nigeria and 2/1 for Tunisia, as well as 17/10 for a draw; which puts the Super Eagles in a vantage position for victory.

This is despite the fact that Tunisia won the last match between both sides, when a long range shot beat Maduka Okoye from distance against the run of play during a round of 16 clash at AFCON 2021.

Alex Iwobi got a red card in that encounter, but his two assists in Tuesday’s opening 2-1 victory over Tanzania make the Fulham of England midfielder a key player to watch out for in Nigeria’s squad.

A preview of the match by The Standard online noted further, “Nigeria last beat Tunisia in 2019 as Odion Ighalo scored the only goal in the AFCON third-place play-off.

“For Tunisia, there is concern surrounding Dynamo Makhachkala striker Hazem Mastouri, who came off at half-time against Uganda after being subject to a number of heavy tackles.

“He has been cleared to face Nigeria, though, after passing tests at a hospital. Winger Elias Achouri will be one to watch after he hit a brace against Uganda, as will Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

“After cruising through their warm-up fixtures, now is the time to step on the gas. Expect it to be a tight match, but Nigeria’s firepower should see them through.”
