AC Milan of Italy defender, Fikayo Tomori has spoken off his desire of ‘adding joy’ for himself and The Rossoneri by winning the Italian Serie A this season, then go on to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sports247 reports that the darks-skinned former Chelsea of England stopper, who is fondly called ‘Fik’ by his teammates, is hoping to fulfil the meaning of his name – Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori.

Tomori acknowledged that, since his name, when translated from Yoruba into English, means ‘adding to the joy I have,’ he wants to extend happiness into his club’s fortunes before the end of this season.
Milan are second in Serie A, only one point behind Inter Milan and with eyes set on winning a first Scudetto title since 2021/22, which Tomori put down to the tactical acumen of their coach, Massimiliano Allegri.
With Tomori back in top form this season, The Rossoneri have lost a single game in Serie A, which the star, who was born to Nigerian parents in Canada, hopes will get him a place in England’s squad to the World Cup.
His last international invitation was two and a half years ago, but he remains in touch with England’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, and Tomori is hoping for a recall to the team with which he got his debut in 2019.
While pointing out that he never got an invitation by Nigeria, Tomori, who won five England caps under Gareth Southgate, believes he can gain the nod for more from Tuchel based on his current form.
Tomori told BBC Sport: “I spoke to him after the last international break in November. We’ve spoken a few times and the message is to keep doing what I’m doing.
“The World Cup is six months away and there’s a lot of football to be played. I know he’s watching and keeping an eye because he called up (team-mate) Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
“That gives me the confidence I can make it. He came to Milan last season and I know he gets our data and sees our clips regularly too.
“The way he’s spoken about it is that it’s difficult because there are so many players in that position, but the World Cup is still a dream.
“I’m working towards that. Oluwafikayomi means ‘God has filled me with joy’ and Oluwadamilola means ‘God has filled me with wealth.’ So, I’m expecting my addition of joy.”
