The Lafia-based side went into the fixture hoping to strengthen their grip at the top of the table, but were held by a disciplined FC Barau team that defended resolutely and frustrated the home side throughout the encounter.
Despite dominating possession and creating a number of half-chances, Nasarawa United were unable to find the breakthrough in front of their supporters.
The stalemate proved costly in the title race, as Rivers United capitalised elsewhere to move to the summit of the league table.
Finidi George’s side now leads the standings with 34 points, having recorded nine wins, seven draws, and two defeats so far this season.
Nasarawa United, meanwhile, drop one place behind the Port Harcourt outfit, sitting second with 32 points from nine wins, five draws, and four losses.
While the Lafia boys remain firmly in the title conversation, the draw represents a missed opportunity to maintain their lead at the top.
With the season entering a decisive phase, both sides will be looking to sharpen their attacking edge as the race for the NPFL crown continues to intensify.
Nasarawa United will aim to bounce back quickly and reclaim top spot, while Rivers United will be eager to consolidate their position at the summit in the coming matchdays.
