USA-based Former Grassroots Attacker Ebere Goodluck Plans Friendly In Memory Of Late Coaches, Colleagues

A former attacker with National Grassroots Dream Team, Ebere Goodluck, who is now based in the United State of America, has thrown more light on the exhibition match he plans to sponsor on January 2nd, 2026 in Coker-Orile area of Lagos.

Sports247 reports that the dark-skinned youngster took to social media to explain the emotions that guided him in calling together many of his friends based overseas to play against his youth days’ club.

The match, which is scheduled to kick off at 7am on the lush surface of Land Park Field, near Coker-Orile Bus Stop, is already generating keen attention in the area and beyond.

While the sponsor has invited 23 colleagues to line out as Ebere & Friends, the opposing side, Idowu Boys FC, have added four former Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) players to their 30-man preliminary list.

However, Ebere stated in a post on Facebook that the match is not just about a reunion of friends and frolicking in the excitement of the New Year, but mostly in memory of some late icons.

“This will give us a memorable football story about coaches and friends who have passed away. It is a deeply personal process that will bring back good memories.

“The key is to focus on authentic emotions and recall vivid specific memories that we had to celebrate their lives, while also remembering the joy we shared on the field.

“We recall the good deeds of Coach Emeka, Coach Idowu, Coach Tony and Coach Gabriel Ogene, as well as Ope, Ismaila, Riliwan Jimoh, Frank Boyoboyo, Marado, Bashir and Habib.

“The time has come for us to celebrate as one team – Idowu Boys. Thanks too to Paul Armah Konneh III for the amazing flyers,” Ebere stated in his post.

Sports247 gathered further that the list of 23 players from abroad, who will tango Idowu Boys FC on the historic day at the arena known popularly as Coker Field, includes many of Ebere’s former colleagues in National Grassroots Dream Team.

Among them are Solomon Joseph, Michael Andrew, Success Godwin, Wasiu Afolabi, Sunday Okoi, Durosimi Adeleke and former Benin Republic national team striker, Shakiru Abikoye, who are all now based in France.
