JUST IN: Super Eagles Touch Down in Fes, Morocco as AFCON Countdown Intensifies

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have officially touched down in Fes, Morocco, marking a major step in their build-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and signaling the start of the final countdown to the continental showpiece.

The Nigerian delegation arrived earlier today after departing Cairo, Egypt, with the squad now fully settled at their AFCON base. The arrival places the team firmly in tournament mode, as preparations move from planning to execution on Moroccan soil.

Crucially, the camp is now a full house, with star striker Victor Osimhen joining his teammates to complete the squad. His arrival brings together all invited players, giving the technical crew the opportunity to work with the full group for the first time ahead of competitive action.

Team officials confirmed that the Super Eagles will hold their first training session in Fes later today, tentatively scheduled for 6:00pm local time. The session is expected to focus on light drills, recovery, and initial tactical organization as players adjust to their new environment.

The decision to arrive early in Morocco is seen as a strategic move, allowing the players time to acclimatise to the weather, training conditions and match atmosphere, factors often decisive in tournament football. The coaching staff had previously stressed the importance of settling early to avoid last-minute disruptions.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group C, alongside Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania, with the Super Eagles set to open their AFCON campaign on December 23. The group is widely regarded as competitive, placing extra emphasis on preparation and focus from the very start.

Following a runner-up finish at the last AFCON and the recent disappointment of missing out on World Cup qualification, the tournament in Morocco presents an opportunity for redemption and renewed belief.

With travel completed, camp fully assembled and training about to begin, the Super Eagles’ AFCON journey has officially begun in earnest. All eyes now turn to the pitch in Fes as Nigeria prepare to chase continental glory.
