Michael Kayode Gains Praise From Brentford’s Coach, After ‘Brilliant’ Show Against Man City

Brentford’s Nigerian-born defender, Michael Kayode has been cited among the ‘brilliant’ back-four that put up a ‘courageous’ fight against Manchester City on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, Sports247 reports.

Although Brentford lost the quarterfinals’ fixture 2-0 at The Etihad, the efforts put up by Kayode and his colleagues in The Bees’ backline earned them plaudits from their coach, Keith Andrews.

The Bees’ gaffer said he was happy with the performances of the defenders and all his players, as it took some stiff pressure before City could clinch the game with goals from Rayan Cherki and Savinho.

“I was very impressed in terms of how we played; we had to play with courage in how we tried to break them down and control the play.

“We played with a lot of courage. We had one day prep and one day training, we flipped the system – the players are so intelligent, so adaptable and versatile.

“I’m disappointed, obviously, but I thought we defended brilliantly and I’m very proud of the boys,” said Andrews, who gave Kayode a starting shirt but replaced him in the 75th minute.
