Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) title holder, Israel Adesanya has dropped to number six in the middleweight rankings, while another erstwhile belt holder, Kamaru Usman is eighth in welterweight.
Sports247 gathered that the latest UFC cards revealed that Adesanya and Usman are both ranked well outside the title contenders in both categories of the Mixed Martials Arts (MMA) discipline.

Adesanya will have to fight his way up through the ranks in order to get a title shot at against the current middleweight champion, Khamzat Chimaev, while the welterweight belt belongs to Islam Makhachev.
The top five fighters ranked above ‘The Last Style Bender,’ who contests under the flag of New Zealand, are Dricus du Plessis, Nassourdine Imavov, Sean Strickland, Anthony Hernandez and Brendan Allen.
However, Adesanya still ranks ahead of nine others – namely Caio Borralho, Reinier de Ridder, Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier, Michael Page, Roman Dolidze, Paulo Costa, Gregory Rodrigues and Joe Pyfer.
On the other hand, the seven contenders ahead of Usman (The Nigerian Nightmare) are Jack Della Maddalena, Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Machado Garry, Michael Morales, Belal Muhammad, Carlos Prates and Sean Brady.
Ranked below Usman in descending order are Leon Edwards, Joaquin Buckley, Gabriel Bonfim, Gilbert Burns, Geoff Neal, Colby Covington and Daniel Rodriguez.
A third Nigerian-born fighter, Dan Ige is ranked 14th in the featherweight class, which has Alexander Volkanovski as champion, among the highlights of all 11 divisions in Dana White’s UFC promotions.
