The captain of Better Tomorrow Football Academy, Folorunsho Testimony has dedicated his awards as the most valuable player and highest goals scorer of Awo Cup 2025 to his late father, who died just a day before the final
Sports247 reports that Testimony’s performance was a major talking point during the final on Sunday at Ogijo Community School, as he pushed aside the death of his dad to help his team seal third spot in the glamorous competition sponsored by Belgium-based former footballer, Emmanuel Olakunle Awosanmi.
The competition’s media officer, Ralph Esene disclosed in a press release that the competition’s third edition came to an exciting end with three highly anticipated finals and third place matches.
He added that the under-13, under-17 and free age categories all lived up to expectations, as the large array of spectators who turned out to watch witnessed the very best of grassroots football.
In the under-13 category, Buequenson Football Academy, with their expressive style of play, defeated Sunshines FA to emerge champions, before which Folorunsho Testimony helped his side beat Mighty Blaster FC to clinch third spot.
Golden Dollar FA refused to settle for anything less than the gold trophy, as they emerged champions of the U-17 category by defeating Mighty Blaster 5-4 on penalties, after full time ended goalless.
In the losers’ final, Awoniyi FA beat Golden Jubilee 5-4 via penalties, after regulation time ended scoreless, while Boca Junior left it late to beat crowd pullers, Harlomar FC 1-0, courtesy a header by skillful forward, Oscar to emerge champions of the free age category and Golden Jubilee beat Rehoboth 3-0 in the third place match.
Esene disclosed further that the tournament saw raw talents, intense matches, great sportsmanship and exciting moments, all laced with beautiful football.

*Harlomar FC captain, Taiwo Idris led a clean sweep of the individual awards in the free-age category, as he was named MVP, while His teammates – Oluwaseun Kolade and Akiwalere Tosin – won the awards for best goalkeeper and top scorer respectively.
