Kano Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali, once again proved why he remains one of the most influential figures in Nigerian football, delivering a match-winning performance in the 2–1 triumph over Kun Khalifat FC on Sunday in Katsina.
The 44-year-old midfield maestro—fondly called “Pele”—scored both goals for the Sai Masu Gida and was deservedly voted Fans’ Player of the Match after another display of leadership, composure, and class. His brace takes him to six goals this season, joint-top in the league’s scoring chart.
Kano Pillars got off to a flying start when Rabiu Ali opened the scoring in the 19th minute. The legend curled home a superb free-kick, leaving the goalkeeper rooted as the Pillars faithful erupted in celebration.
Kun Khalifat FC, however, responded quickly. Just eight minutes later, Nwokorie Ebuka converted a goal in the 27th minute, bringing the game level at 1–1.
In the 38th minute, Ahmed Musa was fouled inside the area, prompting the referee to award another penalty—this time to Kano Pillars. Ali stepped up with trademark calmness, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to restore the lead.
From there, the Sai Masu Gida managed the game superbly, maintaining discipline and control to see out a hard-fought but deserved victory.
A Legend Still Dominating
With six goals already this season, Rabiu Ali continues to defy age and expectations, proving he remains one of the NPFL’s most reliable big-moment players.
His influence, experience, and match-winning ability were again on full display—another reminder of his iconic status in Kano Pillars history.
