Furo Kaye Nets First Senior Goal as Onyendika Opens Season’s Account in Five-Goal Thriller

At the Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium, Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika opened his Jupiler Pro League goal tally for the season, giving Club Brugge a 16th-minute lead with a composed finish past Leo Kokubo, the Japanese-Nigerian shot-stopper.

But while Onyedika’s effort set the tone early, it was young Kaye who stole the Nigerian headlines.

Making just his sixth senior appearance for Club Brugge, the 18-year-old striker came off the bench to fire home an equaliser in the 70th minute, levelling the match at 2–2 and marking his first-ever senior goal.

Sint-Truidense’s Andrés Ferrari, however, crushed Brugge’s momentum with an 81st-minute winner.

Kaye nearly rescued a point late on, but his powerful strike rattled the woodwork.

Kaye’s breakthrough goal adds to a promising season in which he has already made his debuts in the Croky Cup, Jupiler Pro League, and Champions League qualifiers, signalling a rapidly rising career trajectory for the teenager.

Furo Kaye, born in Belgium, presently plays for Belgium U18 national team having grew through ranks and may play for the Belgium senior national team.

His father, Furo Iyenemi had a brief stint playing for Super Eagles, and won the Silver medal at the Ghana /Nigeria 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, while he enjoyed an illustrious career time playing in the Belgium.
