First Bank Basketball Club of Nigeria began their 2025 Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) campaign with a tough 48–85 defeat to Ferroviario Maputo in their Group B matchup at the Prince Abdallah Al Faisal Sports Hall in Cairo, Egypt.

The game, played on Saturday, December 6, 2025, saw the Nigerians struggle to match the intensity and efficiency of the Mozambique champions, who dominated from tip-off and maintained control throughout the four quarters.
Ferroviario Maputo raced to a commanding 34–7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, closing the half at 51–19.
Although First Bank improved offensively in the second half—scoring 15 and 14 points in the third and fourth quarters respectively—the deficit proved insurmountable.
