Maro Itoje Wants To Win Rugby World Cup With England

England’s Nigerian-born rugby team captain, Maro Itoje has come out with a bold declaration that he is aiming to become a world champion with his adopted country in 2027.

Sports247 gathered that Itoje is projecting boldly ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which he believes England are capable of clinching under his leadership.

The Lions have already been drawn in Pool F with Wales, Tonga and Zimbabwe; thereby making Itoje glad that they will not face South Africa, New Zealand and France until the later stages.

As days flow past ahead of the big show, Itoje said he is already relishing the expectation around the team’s 2027 hopes after learning who they will play in Australia.

He, however, acknowledged that the team need to get the best form of preparation and adequate planning heading into the showpiece, which Itoje admitted will not be a stroll in the park.

Itoje affirmed: “Our ambition is to do very well and win this tournament. That’s definitely our goal, our aim.

“That’s our objective, but to do that we know we have to make sure we get our preparation right.

“The next two years leading to the World Cup is massive. I relish the expectation because the converse would not be ideal.”
