Emanuel Emegha Promises Extra Loyalty To Strasbourg, Despite Suspension By His French Club

Strasbourg of France striker, Emanuel Emegha has pledged his continued loyalty to the team, despite their decision to suspend him for what they described as ‘controversial comments’ from him.

Sports247 reports that, rather than feel demeaned and angry about the club’s decision, the Nigerian-born Netherlands international took to social media to issue a public apology.

He admitted that he committed an error of judgement, which he put down to inexperience on his part, then assured everyone that he has learnt a big lesson.

The 22-year-old attacker, who is ready to join Chelsea of England in January from their BlueCo partners, was handed a single game suspension for what they described as his ‘failure to respect the club’s values, expectations and rules.’

A club statement read in part: “Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has decided to suspend Emmanuel Emegha for its next Ligue 1 match, this Saturday, December 6 in Toulouse.”

In his response, Emegha stated on Instagram: “I’m 22, I’ve made mistakes and I know that I have much to learn. I must learn from this.

“I know that I must do better, and I will, on and off the pitch to represent the club. On Saturday, I will 200% back the team like a supporter.”

A report by L’Équipe added that Emegha was sanctioned for a media interview in which he admitted thinking that Strasbourg was in Germany before signing for the club, and for suggesting that the team’s poor results were due to his injury.
