Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Adam England, Director at Rugby School Nigeria, emphasised the magnitude of rugby’s untapped potential in the country.
According to him:“If just 1% of 180 million Nigerian youths take up rugby, that’s 1.8 million players. And if 1% of those reach elite levels, you have a pool of 18,000 top athletes. That journey begins now, and it starts this Saturday with the inaugural Lagos Schools 7s.”
Organisers describe the competition as more than a tournament, it is the official launch of a long-term development pipeline aimed at expanding rugby’s footprint, producing elite athletes, and creating sustainable opportunities for boys and girls nationwide.
Spectators can expect a full day of high-intensity action, elite athleticism, and a showcase of rising stars eager to compete for honours.
