LALIGA Secures Over €6.135 Billion in Domestic Audiovisual Revenue For 2027/28–2031/32, Up 9% Over Previous Cycle

Telefónica and DAZN have been awarded Spanish residential rights for five seasons, with each set to broadcast five top-flight LALIGA EA SPORTS fixtures per matchday, consolidating their status as key strategic partners

LALIGA’s total domestic audiovisual rights revenue includes €5.25 billion from the first division residential segment, €650 million from commercial premises (HORECA), €175 million from LALIGA HYPERMOTION (second division), and €60 million from free-to-air and highlights rights

Madrid, November 28th, 2025. LALIGA has concluded the tender process for the residential broadcasting rights of LALIGA EA SPORTS in Spain for the 2027/2 to 2031/32 cycle, securing a total rights value exceeding €5.25 billion.

This marks a 6% increase over LALIGA’s previous cycle (2022–2027), which generated €4.95 billion. Telefónica and DAZN have each been awarded rights to broadcast five matches per matchday over five seasons.

The total value of LALIGA’s domestic audiovisual rights will ascend to €6.135 billion over the 2027/28 to 2031/32 cycle, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous cycle. This growth is supported by strong performance across all complementary categories, beyond residential rights: a 30% increase in the HORECA segment, up from €500 million to nearly €650 million; a 40% increase in LALIGA HYPERMOTION rights, growing from €125 million to around €175 million; and free-to-air broadcasting and video clips, generating €60 million. These figures underscore the continued expansion and sustainability of LALIGA’s rights commercialisation model.

Javier Tebas, President of LALIGA, said: “In today’s complex domestic and international landscape, securing over €6.135 billion in domestic rights and an overall growth of 9%, equivalent to more than €500 million over the previous cycle, is excellent news for the financial sustainability of our Clubs and the future of Spanish professional football.

At a time when many leagues are experiencing declining media values, LALIGA’s continued growth and record highs are especially significant. This result reflects the strength of our product and the trust of broadcasters, largely driven by our committed fight against piracy, which has helped increase operators’ user bases, and by the Clubs’ dedication to enhancing audiovisual content and offering the best possible fan experience.”

Telefónica and DAZN have solidified their positions as high-value strategic partners for LALIGA, thanks to their top-tier coverage and innovative programming, which have significantly boosted viewership and match attendance in recent seasons.

Their commitment to innovation and responsiveness to evolving consumer habits enables LALIGA to further extend its reach among both existing and new fans. The five-year commercial framework provides stability and certainty, facilitating long-term planning, securing sustained investment by broadcasters, and reinforcing the financial sustainability of the Clubs.

LALIGA extends its gratitude to both operators for their renewed commitment to this premium product, with DAZN also continuing to serve as a key partner across several international markets.

The successful outcome of the tender is the result of a strategy built on three key pillars: the continuous enhancement of LALIGA’s audiovisual product, made more attractive through investment in technology and active participation by LALIGA’s Clubs; a comprehensive anti-piracy approach that has protected revenue streams and reinforced the credibility of Spain’s audiovisual ecosystem; and a strategic foresight regarding UEFA’s new regulatory framework, which enabled an early tender launch and helped avoid negative impacts seen in other competitions. This combination of innovation, market protection and long-term vision has reinforced LALIGA’s leadership in an increasingly competitive media landscape.
