President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing renovation and upgrading of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Gusau, who inspected the facility on Saturday, November 29, 2025, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to transforming the stadium into a modern, CAF-compliant arena.

He also lauded the leadership of the Kwara State Football Association under Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya for driving positive changes in the state’s football ecosystem.
“I am happy to be here in Kwara State. On many occasions, I appealed to the Governor because we cannot continue to have substandard stadiums, especially in a football-rich state like Kwara,” he said.
“He listened to us, and today I am here to see the progress for myself. The FA Chairman has been updating us, but I needed to come and witness the work firsthand.”
During the inspection, the NFF President toured the refurbished dressing rooms, upgraded playing surface, medical bay, VIP stand, media tribune, post-match conference room, and other facilities. He described the transformation as impressive and uplifting.
“What I saw filled me with genuine optimism — a stadium renewed not just in structure but in spirit,” he noted. “The signs of past dilapidation have given way to fresh paint, improved seating, and modern amenities.”
Gusau emphasized that the quality of work must be sustained as the stadium prepares for a forthcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection. He assured residents that successful certification would pave the way for national and continental matches to return to Ilorin.
“Kwara deserves the best because it is the home of football,” he said. “Once CAF conducts its inspection and gives approval, I assure the people of Kwara that our national teams will return here to play.”
Earlier in the day, the NFF President also visited the Kwara SWAN Secretariat, where he commended Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi for constructing a befitting office complex for sports journalists in the state.
Gusau further praised Kwara FA Chairman, Alhaji Idris Musa Thuraya, describing him as a committed leader passionate about grassroots football development.
