Ladele Declares: ‘Nigeria Is Ready — Para Games Will Show the World Our Strength!’

President of the ParaVolleyball Federation of Nigeria, Kayode Ladele, has reaffirmed the nation’s readiness ahead of the maiden West Africa Zones A and B Para Games, set to take place from November 26 to December 4 at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.

In an exciting and confident update, Ladele confirmed that preparations for the regional para-sport spectacle are fully on course, with athletes already deep into training long before Nigeria’s official participation was announced.

He said their commitment and hunger to compete demonstrate the country’s determination to excel on home soil.

“Our athletes have been training consistently, even before the official confirmation. Their dedication gives me strong confidence,” Ladele said proudly.

The tournament is expected to feature a diverse collection of West and Central African nations, including Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, Cameroon, Liberia, Niger Republic, The Gambia, Seychelles, and several others within the region. For many of these countries, it will be the first time their para-athletes compete in a unified regional championship — making the event historic.

Ladele noted that hosting the competition is more than a sporting obligation; it is an opportunity for Nigeria to set a new standard for para-sport excellence, organisation, and inclusivity within the sub-region. According to him, the Games will showcase not just athletic talent but also the resilience and courage of para-athletes who deserve greater visibility.

“This competition will show the world that Nigeria is not only ready but capable of leading para-sports development in Africa,” he said.

The ParaVolleyball chief praised the athletes’ discipline during training camps, highlighting their remarkable determination to represent Nigeria with pride. He stressed that the federation’s role is to ensure they have every tool needed to succeed — from top-level coaching to proper facilities and mental preparation.

He added that hosting the Para Games aligns with Nigeria’s broader sports development agenda, reinforcing its commitment to recognition, empowerment, and inclusion of athletes with disabilities.

Ladele concluded with a strong message:
“We’re ready, the athletes are ready, and Nigeria is ready to make history.”
