NWFL: Robo Queens Snatch Precious Away Win, Bayelsa Queens Grab Late Winner as Champions Begin Title Defence on a High

The 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership season kicked off on Wednesday with drama, goals and strong opening-day statements from some of the league’s biggest contenders as Robo Queens snatched away win and defending Champions Bayelsa Queens started on a winning note.

In Group B, FC Robo Queens produced one of the standout performances of Gameweek 1, securing a hard-fought 1–0 away victory over Sunshine Queens in Akure.

The victory not only extends their strong home record but also reaffirms their ambition to retain the crown.

Elsewhere, Adamawa Queens, Heartland Queens, Dannaz Ladies and Nasarawa Amazons also picked up vital wins, while Remo Stars Ladies, Ahudiyannem Queens, Naija Ratels and Ibom Angels settled for opening-day stalemates.
