Ghana football icon, Asamoah Gyan has picked the Suoer Eagles among the top teams he believes stand solid chances of winning the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Sports247 reports that, with the next AFCON now less than a month away, many permutations are already emerging about the likely winners, and Gyan named Nigeria among his top three favourites.

While lamenting over Ghana’s failure to qualify, Gyan opined that the cup will be won by one of Africa’s three most consistent sides in recent years – Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Morocco.
Although the Super Eagles recently failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup, Gyan is of a view that the Nigerian squad should be able to build on how they reached the last AFCON’s final in Ivory Coast.
“I think we’ve got a lot of giants who are going there. Nigeria did well, they were close last two years. Ivory Coast did well so we have a lot of teams.
“Morocco is also a strong contender who are also doing well. I will say these three countries that I have mentioned: Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Morocco are favourites,” Gyan theorised.
Sports247 adds that, while AFCON 2025 begins on December 21st, the Super Eagles will play their first match of the showpiece continental competition against Tanzania on December 23rd.
