Former Leventis United Striker Morris Ofuife Seeks Glory With 12 Angels FA

A former striker in the highly successful squad that made Leventis United FC of Ibadan a household name in the 80s, Morris Ofuife is now seeking future glory in Lagos with 12 Angels Football Academy.

Sports247 gathered that the academy, whose training base is at Shonibare Street in the Lawanson area of Surulere, is an offshoot of a team that began 15 years ago as 11 Angels FC under the banner of Christ Embassy Church.

However, Ofuife decided to upgrade the status to 12 Angels when he took over full control of the team along with the present coach, Jack Damiete, who was a former colleague of his in their active playing days.

Damiete, who hails from Rivers State, starred for Nigeria Immigration FC (aka Visa Boys) as well as Sharks FC of Port Harcourt and had a short stint on trials in Turkey.

Together, they are both working tirelessly to churn out hidden talents from the Shonibare axis, where past stars like Colins Ibitimi (Barbwire), Ayo Makinwa and Ifeanyi Emeghara were produced.

Damiete gave credit to their former brethren at Christ Embassy – Pastor Prince and Obiora Chuwuike – for setting the mission in motion, then thanked Ofuife for providing support that has kept the vehicle running.

“It’s not been easy, but we have to thank God for the way he has kept us going. It’s been wonderful since the day I volunteered to coach the church team, and now we are grooming kids for future glory,” said Damiete, whose team recently won NPA U15 Cup.
