Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has paid a powerful tribute to Nigerian men as the world marks International Men’s Day, celebrating those whose leadership, strength, and dedication continue to shape the progress of Nigerian sports.
In his message, Adeboye applauded the immense contributions of male athletes, coaches, administrators, sports journalists, medical teams, grassroots volunteers, referees, and mentors who work tirelessly to elevate Nigeria’s sporting profile at home and abroad.

“Today, we celebrate every man whose hard work keeps Nigerian sports moving forward,” Adeboye said.
“From the grassroots to the elite level, Nigerian men continue to show resilience, commitment, and leadership. Their impact is evident in every field, court, and arena across the country.”
Adeboye highlighted the role men have played in Nigeria’s major sporting successes over the years — from football and athletics to basketball, boxing, para-sports, and emerging sports. He emphasized that their sacrifices, discipline, and drive remain the backbone of national development in sports.
He also commended the coaches and grassroots developers who work quietly behind the scenes, often with limited resources, yet continue to discover and nurture new talents across Nigeria’s 36 states.
“Our men in sports are nation builders,” the SSA stated.
“They train the next generation, protect our values, and play key roles in strengthening unity and national pride. Their dedication deserves recognition every day, not just today.”
Adeboye reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to supporting men and women in sports, noting that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is designed to empower Nigerian youth through structured opportunities, improved facilities, and grassroots programmes.
He concluded with a message of encouragement:
“To every Nigerian man contributing to sports — your work matters, your leadership matters, and your dedication continues to inspire our country. Happy International Men’s Day.”
