Lawrence Okolie Plots Against Joshua, As USA’s Cassius Chaney Alleges Betrayal By ‘AJ’

As reactions continue trailing the decision by former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua to accept a fight with social media influencer, Jake Paul, a fellow-Nigerian-born pugilist, Lawrence Okolie is plotting against him.

Sports247 reveals that Okolie’s plot is to help train Jake Paul on how to defeat ‘AJ’ on December 19th in Miami, USA; even as an American heavyweight upstart, Cassius Chaney has come out with an allegation that Joshua earlier promised to fight him next.

The 38-year-old Chaney from Baltimore, who’s pro career began in 2015, hit headlines when he enacted his biggest win in 2023 – a knockout of Trevor Bryan, a former WBA heavyweight title holder.

“It sucks to lose a great opportunity but it’s okay, it’s the business,” Chaney told Sky Sports. “I’m happy to be knocking at the door. Everything works out in the end.”

Chaney’s revelation comes hot on the heel of reports that Okolie, a former world champion at cruiserweight and in the new ‘bridgerweight’ division, has offered to spar Paul ahead of his fight with Joshua.

Okolie, who is currently World Boxing Council (WBC) number one ranked heavyweight contender, has known Joshua since the early days of his amateur career and previously sparred with the former world champion.

However, he is now seeking his friend’s downfall, as he declared: “It’s crazy. I want to go help Jake Paul, give him a chance. What I don’t want is he gets absolutely destroyed in a round if AJ turns it on.

“I want him to have a little feeling of what it’s like to be in there with a world class heavyweight.

“I want to know what it is that’s allowed Jake Paul…to get in there with a 250lb muscle man from England, in front of millions of fans.”
