Ikorodu City’s Coach Bright Ozebagbe Targets ‘Good Result’ Away To Kano Pillars

The head coach at Ikorodu City FC of Lagos, Bright Ozebagbe says his target for this weekend’s Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match away to Kano Pillars is to get a ‘good result’ in The City of Groundnut Pyramids.

Sports247 reports that Ozebagbe is happy that his team shot on top of the NPFL log with their 2-1 victory over 15th placed Plateau United of Jos and believes The Oga Boys can keep the slot with a decent result away to Pillars, who are currently last on the table.

He admitted that being on top of the table is a great feat from his team, but stressed that they must remain focused only on one game at a time, because he knows that the season is going to get tougher as the weeks go by.

Ozebagbe retorted, “I’m glad that the boys are taking our focus game-by-game, and we are right now where we are on the log.

“Things will definitely get difficult. So, we’ll keep preparing them for that expected situation … even as we continue to take everything one game at a time.”

Ozebagbe also confessed that, though he was happy his side won the game and scored two goals in the process, he was disappointed that they could not keep a clean sheet on their home turf against the invaders from Plateau State.

He projected, “More goals will come from this team, but our objective and target for now is that we do not want to concede as we did last season.

“So far, we have been able to do that to an extent. Equally, being able to score two goals in each of our last two games was nice. But, the energy dropped a little bit in this last game.

“We tried to push up high, but there was some loss of concentration, and we conceded that goal. All the same, it’s still a team in transition. So, we just have to keep on working hard.”

He concluded by affirming that a lot of lessons were learnt from their clash with The Tin City side and promised that he will continue working on the lads in order to see them keep a hold on top spot of the NPFL with a good result on Sunday in Kano.

“We need to keep working and see how the boys can be made aware of maintaining their tempo. We learnt a lot from this match and we’ll keep improving.

“I’m not happy that we conceded a goal at home, especially as it’s an area we are working on. They switched off in defence at a particular time, and the opponents scored

“All the same, we look forward to our next game, and we are going there to get a good result. We know what they can do, but we plan to get a good result there,” Ozebagbe affirmed.
