Pattra Oparanmegwa Secures Delta Queens Move After Stunning NWFL Championship Season

Imo State–born defender Pattra Oparanmegwa has continued her remarkable rise in Nigerian women’s football after sealing a move to former NWFL champions Delta Queens. The dynamic right-back was one of the standout performers of the 2024/2025 NWFL Championship season, playing a crucial role in Imo Queens Strikers’ promotion push.

Despite being a defender, Pattra delivered an extraordinary campaign — scoring five goals, winning the Top Goal Scorer Award, and being crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season. Her combination of pace, attacking instinct, and defensive strength made her one of the most exciting players in the division.

Although Imo Queens Strikers eventually sold their promotion slot to Osun Babes due to financial constraints, Pattra’s personal trajectory has not slowed. Her performances attracted immediate interest from top clubs, culminating in her signing for Delta Queens ahead of the new NWFL Premiership season.

Speaking on her move, Pattra said she is ready to make an even bigger statement on the top stage.

“This is a new beginning for me,” she said.

“I worked very hard last season, and joining Delta Queens is a huge opportunity. I’m ready to prove myself again and help the team fight for titles. I want to show that full-backs can lead, can score, and can change games.”

Delta Queens officials describe her as a “rare profile” — a right-back with the fearlessness of an attacker and the discipline of a traditional defender.

As the new NWFL Premiership season approaches, expectations are high.
And one thing is clear: Pattra Oparanmegwa is built for the big stage — and she’s ready to surprise many.
