Ace comedian, Richard Ayodeji Makun (aka AY) has added his voice to caustic reactions trailing the Super Eagles’ loss to Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of Africa’s qualification play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sports247 reports that the Eagles scored early during Sunday night’s match in Rabat, Morocco but soon conceded the equaliser and then lost total control of the game after Victor Osimhen failed to enter for the second half, as he bowed out with a stomach complaint.

From that point on, it was a one-way assault from DR Congo, who had a penalty call denied them by the referee and two goals ruled out, but they still won the tie 4-3 via the shoot-out … as Calvin Baassey, Moses Simon and Semi Ajayi lost their kicks.
In response to the result, ‘A.Y.’ expressed dismay in a sarcastic video post that has since gone viral, which the comedian used in stressing his distate and to highlight how poor the Eagles’ performance was.
While butressing his view with several repetitions of the word ‘shame,’ the vastly popular US Peace Ambassador, who hails from Ondo State and has hosted various events in the entertainment sector, wondered why the Eagles capitulated after Osimhen failed to start the second half.
He recalled how some fans had scolded him recently for singing praises for Osimhen, but noted that his awe has been justified and slammed the other players for their inability to rise to the occasion.
“It’s a shame, big shame. It’s a big shame … shame, shame,” the 54-year-old comedian reiterated, as he addressed the players directly and added some comments in pidgin English to push his message home.
“Even the referee tried, everybody try to help una career. Big shame. What you have proven to us is that, without Osimhen, there is no Super Eagles. He comot for field, full game change.”
He concluded with a charge to all the players to return to their respective clubs and reflect over the loss, but vowed that he will still go to USA, Canada and Mexico to watch the World Cup live in all three countries that will co-host the 2026 Mundial.
“You guys should just go back to your clubs. Shame. Big shame. Shame … but me I go still go. I go go watch that World Cup. I go enter US, enter Mexico, enter Canada. I go watch people were dey play ball,” A.Y. Makun assured.
