Delta State Partners Norwegian Football Agency PMG To Create Global Pathways For Young Athletes — Paul Ojo Omamomo

The Delta State Sports Commission (DSSC) has taken a bold step toward transforming grassroots sports development with a strategic partnership between the Delta State Government and the Norwegian-based football management agency, Atta Aneke/Players Management Group (PMG) — a move designed to create direct, professional pathways for the state’s most promising young footballers.

Speaking on the landmark collaboration, the Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Paul Ojo Omamomo, described the initiative as a “game-changing partnership that aligns perfectly with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.”

“Delta State has always been a factory of talent, but we must modernize how we manage this resource,” Omamomo said. “Partnering with Atta Aneke’s PMG — an agency that manages elite players like Victor Boniface, Gift Orban, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and Odion Ighalo — gives our young athletes access to a trusted global network built on credibility and transparency.”

According to Omamomo, the collaboration will directly tackle one of the biggest challenges facing young athletes — exploitation by unlicensed intermediaries — while ensuring that genuine talents from Delta State are nurtured and connected to legitimate professional opportunities abroad.

“This partnership ensures that when a player shines at our grassroots tournaments, he’s not left vulnerable to dubious agents. Instead, he’s placed on a credible career path that offers structure, mentorship, and real professional exposure,” he explained.

Omamomo revealed that the PMG scouting crew is already in Delta State to finalize the details of the agreement, which will encompass scouting programs, coaching seminars, and development workshops. These will focus on exposing local coaches to modern European training methodologies and providing a sustainable athlete development framework.

He emphasized that this partnership represents more than a football project — it’s part of Delta’s long-term vision to cement its status as Nigeria’s leading sports hub.

“We are not just identifying raw talent; we are building futures,” Omamomo said. “Through this partnership, we are restoring Delta’s legacy as the cradle of sports excellence and ensuring that our young athletes can dream — and achieve — on the global stage.”

The collaboration with Atta Aneke’s PMG — renowned for successfully transitioning Nigerian and African players through Scandinavian leagues into Europe’s elite divisions — is set to redefine how Delta State develops, protects, and exports football talent.

With this initiative, Delta State continues to lead the charge in creating a transparent, well-structured sports ecosystem — one that empowers its youth and positions the state as a model for sustainable sports development in Africa.
