Calvin Bassey Puts Fulham’s Loss Behind, Turns Focus On Super Eagles’ Duty

Fulham of England defender, Calvin Bassey says he has put behind him the agony of Saturday’s loss to Everton in the English Premier League, and his focus is now fully on national team duty at the 2026 World Cup qualification play-offs in Morocco.

Sports247 reports that Bassey was among the players who arrived early inside the Super Eagles camp at Rive Hotel in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, as they begin preparations for Thursday’s match versus Gabon.

His arrival came barely 24 hours after he got a 48th minute yellow card while trying to save his side from losing 2-0 away to Everton, whose former midfielder, Alex Iwobi played all 90 minutes for the visitors and Samuel Chukwueze entered as a 59th minute substitute.

“It’s time to go away and change our focus as we appear in the national team,” said Bassey. “It gives everyone a chance to breathe a bit before we get back into the club.”

Bassey, Iwobi and Chukwueze will put aside their club woes in order to get victory with the Super Eagles on Thursday then pick Africa’s lone ticket to the intercontinental play-offs by beating either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final on Sunday.
