The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to unite behind the Super Eagles as the team continues its qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that this is a time for national solidarity, not division.
Adeboye said football remains one of the strongest forces uniting Nigerians across tribes, faiths, and regions — and that the dream of seeing the Super Eagles in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026 should be a shared national mission.

“Every Nigerian wants the Super Eagles at the World Cup,” Adeboye said. “This is not just about football — it’s about our pride, our unity, and our identity as a nation that never gives up. We all have a role to play, whether on the pitch, in the media, or in the stands.”
The presidential aide called for restraint and responsibility in public commentary, warning that misinformation and negativity can demoralize the players and create unnecessary tension within the football community.
He further expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will rise to the occasion in their upcoming CAF playoff clash against Gabon in Morocco, urging Nigerians everywhere to rally behind the team as they chase the final qualification ticket to North America.
“Constructive criticism is welcome, but destruction helps no one,” he added. “Our focus should be on encouraging the team, supporting the technical staff, and trusting the process the government and the football authorities are building to take Nigerian football to greater heights.”
Adeboye reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen football at both grassroots and elite levels, ensuring that young talents continue to rise through structured development programs.
He concluded with a message of optimism:
“The Super Eagles represent the hopes of millions. If we stand together — players, fans, administrators, and government — there’s nothing we cannot achieve. Unity is our greatest strength.”
